Stata Dataset Preview

CosmoQuickView renders Stata datasets as a metadata card: release, byte order, variable and observation counts plus the variable-name table. Data records are not parsed.

Supported file extensions

.dta

What you see

  • DTA format release (117, 118 or 119) and byte order from the header
  • Number of variables (K) and observations (N)
  • Dataset label when one is embedded
  • Variable-name table listing the first 100 variables with an overflow line beyond that
  • Only the first 4 MB of the file is scanned for header blocks
